During the 2021-2022 school year, I was Mr. Bunnell’s teachers assistant (TA) at Conifer high school. During my junior year, after taking AP chem with Mr. Bunnell, I decided using an extra period to be his TA would be a good idea for my senior year. What I didn’t know at the time was that would be my favorite period of the day. Near the start of the semester, I decided to organize his dysfunctional closet space of glassware, and the gratitude he showed me made my year. Through all of the labs he had me organize, the homework I graded, and the amount of cleaning I did, I never regretted a moment I spent assisting him. Mr. Bunnell truly inspired me. As a freshman in college now, I am grateful for the lessons and skills he taught me, to be adventurous through science. Mr. Bunnell is one of the few people I know who express true kindness and excitement to others. As a TA, I expected to do most of the tedious work and grading from his classes, but nonetheless Mr. Bunnell would always have something thrilling for me to do. Whether that was cleaning spoiled milk or mixing up tie dye solution, it was never a boring day in his classroom. Mr. Bunnell had an effect on every one of his students, and I will never forget that. Even now, I get emotional thinking about how every morning I would walk in a little bit late, you know how seniors are, and he would always stop class. He would look at me, smile, and tell me good morning. Even if he was in the middle of a chemistry problem, he would come to the back office with me to show me what work needed to be done and to talk to me for a bit. We would talk about what college I was planning on going to, how my current classes were going, and any current life updates. In our chats, he would talk about his love for his family and friends, and my heart goes out to them always. Mr. Bunnell has left an extraordinary impact on me, and I will carry that throughout my life. 

 Mr B (or some of us called him Bunny) was one of my favorite teachers at Prescott High School.  He was my teacher in 2008. After all these years I still remember him and that class so vividly - it was the class I looked forward to every day, even despite me not being so great with chemistry. So enthusiastic and patient with students like me who really struggled to remember all of those chemical formulas! He showed us some of the coolest science experiments. My former friend and I even had a small crush on him at the time lol.  Sending love to his family and loved ones. 

Words cannot convey how sorry I am for your tragic loss.  May you find solace in the love of family and friends who also cherished Brian.

Brain’s family was one of our favorite subjects on a beautiful evening on Big McDonald lake. We got more comments from this photo than any other on WDAY.
