Arthur’s first two children, Carol L. Anderson and Janet Bevelheimer also survive him. Arthur has five grandchildren. He has two grandchildren by Janet and Ned Bevelheimer. Arthur is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Arthur arrived in New York City at the age of seven with his parents Agda and Nils Anderson and his sister Greta and was brought up in Brooklyn, NY. He attended Brooklyn schools, including Brooklyn Technical High School, and Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. He received his B.S. degree in Banking and Finance in 1954 on the G.I. Bill after having served in the military as a navigator in WW Two in the Army Air Force. He also attended NYU graduate school for seven years in night school and completed all his coursework in business administration towards a master’s degree. From 1954 to 1963 Arthur served in the Air Force reserves. Arthur was a Licensed Real Estate Appraiser in New York and in Colorado. He was also an Independent Fee Appraiser as well as a Certified FHA Fee Appraiser from 1980 to the present. Since 1955 he has been a member of the Society for Residential Appraisers. He worked for the U.S. Dept. of Housing and Urban Development (H.U.D.) from 1957 to 1978. Arthur combined his background in real estate with his skills as an entrepreneur in owning and operating several properties in Colorado with his wife Connie for over three decades.
Arthur was unique in his ability to socialize with all different kinds of people. He was a penultimate communicator, in person and on paper. His ability to express himself on paper was passed on to his daughter Carol, who finally, after several false starts, earned a Master’s Degree in Literature in 2010. Art was able to solve any and all of life’s challenges and problems by having survived the Depression, by thinking things out by himself, and by educating himself on any topic that was necessary to function successfully. His problem-solving skills, his general competence in so many areas and his open-arms approach to life have been passed on to his children and grandchildren. In addition, Arthur loved sports. As a young man, he played ice-hockey semi-professionally, loved handball, and swam like a fish. In middle age, he took up jogging, racquetball and skiing. All of his family and friends will miss Arthur terribly for his indomitable spirit, drive to succeed, eagerness to face life’s challenges, his willingness to bond closely with everyone and, even in his last hours, his refusal to feel sorry for himself.
