Albert (“Bud”) Henry Hessel, 91, passed away in Denver, CO on June 3, 2024. Bud was born on November 28, 1932 in Hitchcock, OK. He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Mary Sue Piatti, Candy and Joe Molter, Peggy and Larry Martinez, Bud’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Laura and Eric Coleman (sons Preston and Braden), Angie and Tom Hewitt (daughters Avery Esther and Riley), Michael Martinez (children Santino and Ellie), Stacy and Brian Beavers (sons Mason and Cole) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Anna Hessel, his brother, Darold Hessel, and sisters, Evelyn Simpson, Ruby Barstow and Lenora Hall. Bud was married to his late wife of 58 years, Esther Hessel, and late wife, Sylvia Amos.
For over 45 years, Bud served as a committed member and caretaker of the Valley View Methodist Church where he forged life-long friendships and instilled Christian values in his children and grandchildren. All who knew Bud felt his kindness; he loved people and had a knack for bringing joy to those around him.
Bud lived in Thornton, CO for most of his adult life. He served as a lieutenant for the Martin Marietta Fire Department for 26 years.
Bud was an avid Denver Broncos fan and lived out his final years at Carillon adult living facility in Greenwood Village, CO where he maintained a social and active lifestyle. Over the years, Bud’s favorite pastime was weekly visits and dinners with his family.
