White, Viola Irene (Melanson) - 89 of Yarmouth passed away peacefully at the Treasured Memories Seniors Estate Residence. Born in Gilbert's Cove, she was the daughter of the late Wilfred Melanson and Janie (Amirault) Melanson. She married Weldon Rose of Port Maitland and they had five children- Joseph Rose (Sara Wetmore), Cedar Lake, Murray Rose, Upper Musquodobit, Wanda Rose (deceased) Gregory Rose (Linda Theriault), Hebron and Jennie Morrow (Dieter Goerlach), Mavillette. After raising her children she moved to Halifax, worked at Birk's Jewellery Store while obtaining her real Estate license. She spent several happy years selling for Pat King Real Estate in Sackville before marrying Alfred White. They moved to Gilbert's Cove and then later to Yarmouth. She was a social person and enjoyed involvement in the Seniors Club, art groups (both in Weymouth and later in Yarmouth) and the Yarmouth Gardening Club. Years ago she was a leader of the Port Maitland 4H Club, teaching sewing. She liked to travel, saw much of Canada, spent one winter in Florida and went on a tour of Europe with her sister, Celeste. She loved people, made friends easily and was a gracious host. She was formerly a member of The Holy Cross Catholic Church in Plympton and St Ambrose Cathedral, Yarmouth. She adored her grandchildren: Heidi Newell, Hannah Rhyno, Patrick Rhyno, Crystal Robicheau and Christopher Rose and her great grandchildren: Kiersten Finlay, Katelyn Newell, Courtney Robicheau, Aidan Newell, Jocelyn Robicheau, Sam Rhyno, and Erin Newell, and her special cousin Millie Blinn, Digby. She is predeceased by her husband, Alfred White, daughter Wanda Rose, and her siblings: Celeste Hall, Lucille Amirault, Martha Gaudet, Theresa VanTassel, Adolph Melanson, and Clifford Melanson. In recent years Viola resided at Treasured Memories Seniors Estate Residence in Yarmouth. Shelley Reardon and her employees cared for her with as much love and attention as they would have given one of their own family. They went above and beyond what anyone would hope for and Viola's family will always be grateful. No visitation by family request. Funeral service will be 10am Wednesday from Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Plympton. Father Keith Billard will officiate with burial in the Parish Cemetery. A reception will follow in the Church Hall. Donations in memory can be made to the Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Plympton. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby.
