Mullen, Ruth Victoria May age 81, Tideview Terrace, Conway, and formerly of Hassset, Digby Co. passed away December 9, 2016 at Tideview Terrace. Ruth was born in Dartmouth, on May 24, 1935 on Queen Victoria’s Birthday, for whom she was named. At an early age, she moved to Weymouth, where she grew up like family, was loved and raised by her foster parents the late Ellery and Eva Lewis; Danvers Digby Co. Ruth completed high school at Bethany Bible College, Yarmouth; and went on to become a school teacher in Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island, later at Hasset, Weymouth Falls and Weymouth. She became a homemaker, was a wonderful mother to 4 children and wife to Ivan. She returned to school later in life to study accounting, and was employed for 30 years as an accountant with Lewis Lumber Company, Lewis Sawmill Limited, and later by J.D. Irving ltd. until retirement. She was treasurer and Sunday School Teacher for the Havelock Wesleyan Church. Of Ruth’s many interests, she especially enjoyed travel and painting, the latter of which she was very talented. Surviving are son, Allan (Wanda), Hasset, Digby Co.; daughters, Wanda (Bill Reid) Mullen, Red Deer, Alberta; Deborah (Randy) Randolph, North Carolina; sisters, Joan (Howard) Walsh, Dundas, Ont., Betty (Lowell) Barstead; Niagara Falls, Betty Anne; Sudbury, Ont.; Jean, Fall River; brothers, E. Waldon (Viola) Lewis, Enfield; Harold “Bud” (Joan) Lewis, Windsor and lifelong best friend, Rilla (Glendon) Barr, Danvers; 4 grandchildren: Daniel, Michael, Justin and Rachel and great-grandson, Samuel. She was predeceased by her husband, Ivan; daughter, Wendy (Gordon); brothers, Brian Lewis, John Greaves and David Greaves. Visitation will be 7-9pm Monday, December 12 from the Havelock Wesleyan Church and from where funeral service will be 2pm Tuesday December 13. Pastor Shawn Craven will officiate with burial in the Church of Christ Cemetery, Weymouth. Family flowers only. Donations in memory can be made to the Havelock Wesleyan Church.
