Cromwell, Nelson – 94 of Weymouth Falls , Digby Co. passed away August 17, 2011 in Veteran’s Place, Yarmouth. Born in Weymouth Falls on January 10 ,1917 he was a son of the late Rodney and Harriet (Barton) Cromwell. As a young man , Nelson was employed at Tupper Warne’s Mill. He was a Veteran of the Second World War serving in Holland, France, Italy and Germany. Nelson was a life member and long serving member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 67 Weymouth, where he also helped build the Legion building. He also was a long standing member of St. Matthew’s Anglican Church Weymouth Falls, loved gardening, carpentry and cars.He was employed for 31 years as custodian for Weymouth Consolidated High School and was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was one of the best dressed men in Weymouth Falls. Surviving are daughters Margaret (Dolin) Cromwell , Miss. Ont. Violet (Arthur) Parker, Plano, Texas; Wilhelmina (Andre) Heyliger, Bermuda; Odessa Cromwell, Toronto, Ont.; Thursyza Cromwell, Toronto, Ont.; Rhonda Cromwell, Halifax; son Benjamin Cromwell, Toronto, Ont.11 grandchildren, 13 Great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Lena, son Alec, sisters Mime, Madeline, brothers Raleigh and Emery. Visitation will be 2-4 & 7-9pm Tuesday from Jayne’s Funeral Home , Weymouth North (245-2525) and from where a Royal Canadian Legion Tribute Service will be held 7:00pm Tuesday Evening. Funeral Service will be 11 am Wednesday from St. Matthew’s Anglican Church, Weymouth Falls. Rev. Mel Malton will officiate with burial in St. Matthew’s Anglican Cemetery Weymouth Falls. Donations in memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
