I was Congregation Beth Israel’s treasurer when we hired Larry. From the first day, Larry was a joy to work with. He was competent and caring. For decades, he was attentive to our needs, keeping the organization on the right financial path with expertise, respect and good humor. No matter how naive a question I asked, he never responded with anything other than knowledge and kindness.  I’m blessed to have had Larry come into my life. 

I was the treasurer of Congregation Beth Israel many years ago and realized we needed a bookkeeper, someone to keep our financial books in order and keep us in compliance with regulations.  We hired Larry and he was not only competent, but a lovely, compassionate, good-humored man who was a delight to work with.  He stayed with us for decades, working with many staff and treasurers.  Each and every one of us understood how fortunate we were to have Larry on our team.   I wished him well in his retirement and was very saddened to hear of his unexpected death.  

Larry - Thank you !  You found love with my dear closest friend and she found love in you and your family.. to become one. AND I thank you.  Never a conversation with you ever became boring.. I'm blessed to enjoy your company.  <3 Deb

Michael and I were so fond of Larry. He was a genuine friend that was a real as they come. His passion for planning motorcycle rides, his unconditional love for his family and friends and the love for his dear wife Gail, was as deep as the ocean is wide. We will miss you sweet man, but we know that one day we’ll be riding the streets of gold right along with you! 

I knew Larry during his time at Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad. He was a good person to work with and did an excellent job as treasurer. Prayers for the family. 

Larry was a good guy in world where they are somewhat hard to find...I ran rescue with him for a long time and he was a great Volunteer provider.. He certainly will be missed...


I remember Larry as he was during our Exploring Faith Sessions when he was studying the Roman Catholic faith. His interest in pursuing Catholicism had been piqued by his participation as a guest of Gail Noonan's at several Parish events. Larry was gifted with profound spiritual insight. Working with him was definitely a case where one could see the Lord pursuing Larry as much as Larry was seeking God. His enthusiasm and perception gave him fresh ideas as we talked and it was clear Larry's interest in the Faith was genuine. He was a gentle, compassionate and kind man and it was a gift to share in  his faith journey.
