David Wilson Byers

He was born in Augusta County on September 23, 1914, and was the son of the late Harry and Carletta Byers.

Mr. Byers lived all of his life in Augusta County and graduated from Weyers Cave High School. He worked for DuPont, Celanese and retired from the maintenance department of Westinghouse. He was a Boy Scout Leader for over 50 years and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a lifelong member of the Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school and served on various committees.

On February 17, 1940, he married the former Mary Alice Young, who preceded him in death on September 4, 2007. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He is survived by a brother, Harry Lee Byers of Broadway; loved ones and caregivers, Kim, Heather, and Broc May, of Mt. Sidney, and Deanna Good and Norman Good, also of Mt. Sidney; special friends, Melanie M. Blosser of Waynesboro and Kevin W. May of Mt. Sidney.

Friends may call at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave, however, the casket will be closed.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Salem Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Chris Carr officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
