On January 5, 2014, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in the wee hours of the morning, Jesus extended His loving arms to welcome home one of his faithful believers, Bobby “Booty” Richard Hitt, 84, of Grottoes, VA, formerly of Elkton, VA. His loving wife Elizabeth of 51 years was by his side.
Bobby was the son of Tony and Mary Downs Hitt who preceded him in death. Sadly, his beloved son Christopher Aaron Hitt passed in 2006.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth, his sister, Kitty Hitt Hensley, and brother, Leroy Hitt of Elkton, VA. Also surviving is his very special sister-in-law, Connie Sue Scott and brothers-in-law, Donnie Scott and Junior Via. Next door lives his friend and “special” cousin, Maxine Gooden. Also surviving is Bobby’s niece Amanda, her husband Mark Schoolcraft, their children, and his nephew, Shawn Via.
Before his illness causing Bobby to become confined to bed, Bobby was very active in church. His kindness extended especially to the elderly, the children, and to all creatures of Gods earth. He will be remembered for his enduring faith to God and his belief that Gods spirit resides in everyone.
He was retired from Westinghouse/McQuay where he was employed for 36 years and he also served in the US Army three years and was honorably discharged December 4, 1956.
As a special note he loved sports and especially fishing.
Bobby will be remembered as a quiet gentle man with compassion and love for God, his family and fellowman. He will be greatly missed.
Bobby can be viewed at Lindsey Funeral Home in Weyers Cave on Wednesday, January 8, from 9-5:00 pm, and a graveside service will be at Port Republic Cemetery. The Rev. Jimmie Pittman will conduct the service on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.
Booty, I know you are free of pain so now rest in peace until we meet again.
