Stewart was predeceased by his parents James and Annie (Wilkes) Scott; wife, Lillian (Sanders) Scott; son, Ken Scott; sisters, Olive Tremblay & Margaret Tidlund; brother, John “Jack” Scott and grandson, Adrian Scott.
He was the 5th of 6 children born to Allen and Annie (Wilkes) Scott on the family farm near Brooking, Saskatchewan. He married his sweetheart Lillian Sanders on December 2nd, 1949. They raised 6 children and lived a very happy life together until Lillian’s passing in December 2000. Stewart has spent the past several years living in Regina after becoming reacquainted with a dear friend Frances (Frankie) McLachlan. Frankie was a very special part of his life, together creating many cherished memories. Stewart served with the Royal Canadian Airforce during World War II, enlisting September 23, 1943 and being discharged in 1946. Stewart spent the majority of his time stationed at Skipton-on-Swale driving ambulance with the number 6 Bomber Group. He remained an active member of his local Legion up until his passing, never missing a November 11th, Remembrance Day Service. Stewart farmed on the family farm for years starting out with a team of mules and ending many years later with big fancy (mostly green) equipment. He was a kind loving soul who would give you the shirt off his back. He was smart, funny and loved to laugh until he cried. He treated everyone with respect, hated conflict and always stood up for what he believed in. He was a great story teller, loved to play cards, spend time with friends, family and his beloved coffee crew. The world was truly blessed to have this amazing man for so many years, he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Stewart will be lovingly remembered by his son, Dale (Marion) Scott of Halbrite, SK; daughter, Cheryl (Norm) Gagnon of Regina, SK; son, Jim (Susan) Scott of Wapella, SK; son, Doug (Sherry) Scott of Radville, SK; daughter, Karen (Lonnie) Lautenslager of Regina, SK; daughter-in-law, Audrey Scott (Mac) of Radville, SK; grandchildren: Owen (Melissa), Kelly (Jeannie), Pam, Travis, Tracey (Bill), Bill (Alicia), Jayme, Adam, Rachel (Scott), Allan (Sarina), Amanda (Drew), Megan (Dale), Melissa (Eric), Sara (Abel), Sydney (Billy) and Lara Scott; numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Katherine Pow and Marie Hibbard and special friend, Frances McLachlan.
Visitation took place on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan and the Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Radville Rec Centre with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Interment will take place at Radville~Laurier Cemetery, Radville, Saskatchewan.
Donations in memory of Stewart may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion ~ Radville Branch No. 42 or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
