Marjorie was born on April 25, 1935 in Indian Head, SK. She was raised in Indian Head by her mother and maternal grandparents. As a teenager she moved to Weyburn to work as a nurse’s aide and then took a course to become a CNA (now known as LPN). Marjorie married Robert Chase on October 4, 1958 and together they moved to Banff for a short time before settling back in Yellow Grass. Together Robert and Marjorie raised three children, Nancy, Jim and Milton. She remained in Yellow Grass until 1980 when she moved into Weyburn. After Jim passed away Marjorie remained in Weyburn and in 2013 she moved into the Weyburn Special Care home where she remained until her passing. Marjorie was an avid knitter and also loved to crochet, she will be long remembered for her beautiful afghans and baby sweaters. She also enjoyed reading a good book and sewing. Marjorie was a loving mother and honorary grandmother, so involved in the lives of her children that their friends became honorary family members.
Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Nancy Chase; son, Milton Chase; sisters-in-law, Beth Hockley, Shirley (Garnet) Bartlett and Sandra Crozier; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Chase; son, Jim Chase; mother-in-law, Stella Brack; mother and father-in-law, Grant and Myrtle Chase.
A Memorial Service was held on Wenesday, February 18, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, SK with Reverend John Ferrier officiating. A time of fellowship followed at the Captain’s Hall for friends and family. There will be a private family interment in the spring of 2015.
