Madelene was born September 24, 1939, to John and Nadalie Herberholz at Khedive, SK. She was number 6 of 10 children.
She met Marvin Richards at Khedive while Marvin was there repairing grain elevators. They married November 2, 1956. The couple moved to Huntoon, Saskatchewan near Marvin's parents. A son, Rodney, and daughter, Wendy, were born at Midale, SK while they lived there. Shortly after the family moved to Harptree, SK. Madelene continued to be a full time housewife and mom while Marvin ran the grain elevator. This is where two more sons, Daniel and Wade, were born completing the family. In 1986, Marvin and Madelene retired at Weyburn, SK.
Madelene was a talented painter enjoying crafting at Signal Hill Art Center. She also enjoyed her flowers and gardening, camping with Marvin, their dog Brandy and her family especially her grandchildren. She spent the last 13 years of her life at Hilltop Manor.
Madelene was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Marvin Frederick Richards (2011); parents, John and Nadalie Herberholz; siblings, Jack, Richard, Susan, Marlene and Marion; grandson, Robert M.S. Hepburn and great-grandson, Reid Richards.
Madelene is survived by her son, Rod (Louanne) Richards of Moose Jaw, SK and their children: Devin (Cara) and daughters: Delia and Cleo Richards, Cortney (Garry) Banner, Denae (Andy) and sons, Barrett and Cason Graham; daughter, Wendy (Robert) Hepburn of Congress, SK and their daughter: Heidi (Shadwell Suen) Hepburn; son, Dan Richards of Weyburn, SK and his children: Colby (Kalily Karppenman Bain) and son, Damian Sluymers-Dupuis, Alexis (Kaya Dooley) Dupuis; son, Wade (Melanie) of Regina, SK and their children: Hailey and Shelby Richards; four sisters, Phyllis Peterka, Caroline Fillion, Judy Malinowski and Shelly Herberholz as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service was held on Thursday, April 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. from Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Reverend M. Barnabas officiating. Interment took place at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Weyburn, Saskatchewan.
