Ross, Lydia “Leta” Ottillia born May 23, 1928 passed away peacefully with her loving family at her sideon September 5, 2013. Let’s wisdom, humour and compassion enriched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her. We will always be inspired by her kindness, her love of poetry and her frequent admonition to “stop and smell the roses.” Leta will be greatly missed by Leslie (Steve), Brant (Cindy), Calvin (Tammy) and the absolute joys of her life, grandchildren, Kirsten and Lucas. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Sally and brothers, Ed, Harry, Mickey and Ron and their families. Leta was predeceased by her parents, Jacob and Magdalene Scheuer; husband, Jack; infant son, Daniel and dear sister, Freda. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no funeral service. If desired, donations in Leta’s memory to Canadian Mental Health or the Arthritis Society would be most appreciated. We will never see a daffodil again, without thinking of her quoting her favourite Wordsworth poem:
I wandered lonely as a cloud
That floats on high o’er vales and hills,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden daff0dils;
Beside the lake, beneath the trees,
Fluttering and dancing in the breeze.
Ten thousand saw I at a glance,
Tossing their heads in sprightly dance.
I gazed and gazed but little thought
What wealth the show to me had brought:
For oft, when on my couch I lie
In vacant or in pensive mood,
They flash upon that inward eye
Which is the bliss of solitude;
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils.
