Grace was born in Radville on February 1, 1920, the third child of Chris and Elizabeth Jensen. She and her siblings, Mary, Walter and Dorothy, were raised on the farm north of Radville until the family moved to Weyburn in 1940. Their home was a sod house that she described as being very comfortable. It was cool in the summer and warm and cozy in the winter months. Their home was a gathering place on Sunday afternoons for family and friends where they played ball, horseshoes, checkers and enjoyed music provided by whom ever could play an instrument or sing. Grace never married, although she did have several suitors. She chose to stay at home and selflessly took care of her parents as they aged. Grace worked at Saskatchewan Hospital in the late 1940’s through to the early 1950’s. She was later employed as a stenographer in Regina in the payroll department with the Canadian National Defense from 1945 to 1946. In the 1960’s she worked at Dreis Brothers until she retired in the early 1980’s. Grace loved flowers and enjoyed many hours working in the garden. Her love of cats lasted throughout her life and there was always a cat in the house. Grace bowled regularly and loved to play cards and gather with her friends for coffee and conversation. She was a lifelong member of the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints, now known as the Community of Christ. Many of her dearest friendships developed in this community. A trip to California was a highlight in her life when she and a friend travelled there in the 1950’s. They went to Catalina Island and talked often about the beautiful gardens they visited there. Grace was a kind, generous and fun loving person. She loved animals and children, her nieces and nephews will all remember her as their favourite aunt. Grace is survived by her sister, Dorothy Cox of Weyburn; nieces and nephews, Glenda (Guy) Shupe of Weyburn, Alice (Wayne) Bell of Kimberley, BC, Catherine (Al) Flemmer of Calgary, AB, Walter (Trudy) Jensen of Beaumont, AB and Johnny (Sandy) Jensen of Winnipeg, MB as well as many great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
