Ed was born on September 3, 1936 near Leader, SK. He married Eva Rivard on April 5, 1961 at St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church in Weyburn. They made many moves throughout the years, but Ed’s heart always remained on the farm where he grew up near Midale, SK. The years that Ed and Eva spent on the farm, tinkering in the yard and tending to his crops were the ones that brought him the most joy. Even after the farmland was sold, Ed would make frequent trips to the old homestead to spend some quiet time and enjoy the memories.
Ed was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Eva Winder (2014); parents, Joe and Elizabeth (Reis) Winder; sisters, Rose Fichter & Josephine (Joyce) Mastel.
Ed is survived by his daughter, D’Arcy (John) Megenbir; sons, Brent (Edu) Winder and Jamie (Joy) Winder; grandchildren, Michael (Jaimie), Camille (Tare), Thomas (Julie-Anne), Emera, Shawn, Robyn, Tyrone, Kendra (Travis) and Kale (Anna); brothers, Luke and Tony; sister, Loretta (Weinrauch) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Prayers were held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Vincent de Paul Roman Catholic Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Father Valentine Amobi celebrating. Pallbearers wereJohn Megenbir, Michael Megenbir, Thomas Megenbir, Jamie Winder, Kale Karas, and Tare Matiza. For those unable to attend the service in person it may still be viewed by logging into, “Fletcher Funeral Chapel & Cremation Services” Facebook page. Interment took place at Halbrite Cemetery, Halbirte, Saskatchewan. Following the mass, friends were invited to further share this day with Ed’s family at lower McKenna Hall.
