Cherry was born on Sept. 22, 1927 in Regina SK. Her father was a member of the RCMP, so the family lived in many communities in SK - Regina, North Portal, Fort Qu’Appelle, Willow Bunch, Radville & Fillmore.
At Fillmore, Cherry met & married Darwin Lackey on March 14, 1947. They have farmed in the Fillmore area since that time. They celebrated their 75th Anniversary on March 14, 2022. They moved from the farm to Weyburn in 1968 where for many years they owned & operated Lackey Real Estate and Insurance. Palm Springs, California was their winter home for 40 years.
Our Mom had a deep Christian faith, which was the centre of her life. Mom played an active role in the Christian Women’s Club, spent many years volunteering at Kenosee Lake Bible Camp and faithfully packed shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child (Samaritans Purse).
Mom had a great love of music, was an accomplished seamstress and an avid knitter. Mom endeared herself to many people with graciousness and a humble spirit. She had a special place in her heart for her many grandchildren, great grandchildren & great great grandchildren. Mom was fun-loving with an infectious laugh. . . Loving, caring and kind.
