Anna was predeceased by her beloved husband, Chester Grainger; parents, Martin and Betty Olson; brothers, August Olson and Albin (Tilly) Olson; sisters, Jenny Olson and Bertha (Bob) Booth and brother-in-law, Alton Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Minnie Johnson along with several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Anna was born on the family farm on August 13, 1916. She took her schooling at Lyons School about one mile S.E. of their farm. As a young girl she worked at several places doing domestic duties. While she was cooking at the Ogema Café she met her future husband, Chester Grainger. This added credence to the old saying, “the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach.” They were married on April 8, 1949 and her life as a farmer’s wife began. Anna enjoyed gardening, preserving, cooking, baking and raising turkeys. She always enjoyed family gatherings and entertaining and always made sure no one went away hungry. Anna was also a gifted, self-taught piano player. Anna moved into the Deep South Personal Care Home in May 2014. She enjoyed being close to her sister, Minnie and they spent countless hours reminiscing. A Graveside Service was held on Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Ogema Cemetery, Ogema, Saskatchewan with Randy Johnson officiating. The Funeral Lunch Reception followed at the Deep South Pioneer Museum Hall. Donations in memory of Anna may be made to the Deep South Personal Care Centre at Box 150, Pangman, SK S0C 2C0.
