Angela is also surived by her brother in law, Steven Freriks and sisters in law, Patrick’s twin sister, Lisa (James) Sullivan, Carolyn (Carl) Jarvin and Michele (Lyle) Schwartz.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Cornelis (Cor) and Margje (Mar) Van Roon and Ragnar and Hilda Olson; uncles, Leo (Alice) Van Roon, Gord Tonn and Virgil (Ella, Haley) Olson.
Angela was born in Weyburn on June 8, 1972, attending Haig School, Weyburn Junior High and completed her Grade 12 at the Weyburn Comprehensive. Angela started cleaning her parent’s house, as a child thinking it was fun, and her mother kept letting her think that. This became her vocation in life. She also started working, after school and weekends at Perfect Inns. When she completed High School she started her own cleaning business in Weyburn. After she married Patrick Freriks in 2009 she again set up her own cleaning business and continued doing that all her working life.
Angela enjoyed being active, she especially enjoyed biking and walking. She ran in quite a few marathons and along with her husband climbed Grouse Mountain, in Vancouver, to raise funds for the Brain Tumour Foundation. She also enjoyed reading, watching movies, listening to music (especially the Christian Radio Station), baking muffins, going for coffee (Tim Horton’s) and going to church. She loved the beach, the ocean, palm trees, the sun/Son (both in the sky and in Heaven). She loved spending time with family and friends and in the Word (getting to know Jesus).
Angela had the ability to bring a smile or laughter, to those around her, with witty remarks and her gifted sense of humour. For a period of time she couldn’t drive a vehicle or work, due to her illness, but that didn’t stop her from proceeding on with life. She said “I might as well write a book about some of my experiences. She called her book “Cranium Crisis,” which also showed her sense of humour, especially the part where she gave each of her doctors or specialists a comical name, like Dr. Sumnerve, Dr. Neurotron and Dr. Flawless.
Angela took comfort in not only reading the Bible but other books focusing on God’s promises. Some of her favorite scripture verses were: “There are many rooms in my Father’s house, and I am going to prepare a place for you and after I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself so that you will be where I am.” and “He’s preparing a place for me and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” and “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow has enough trouble of its own, but do not fear, for I have conquered the world.” and finally “We will have a house in Heaven for us to live in, a home He himself has made, which will last forever.”
The following is a written copy of what Angela prepared for her obituary: Best friend, Jesus and friends and followers of Jesus. She said: “The best part of Heaven will be: no more crying, tears and sorrow, sickness, suffering and pain. She said she was looking forward to the Welcome Home Party in Heaven and getting to spend an eternity of happiness with Jesus and see family and friends again.” She said in her usual sense of humour, “and I’ll get to eat all the foods and dessert that He’s prepared for me at the banquet! I’ll probably even have seconds”. Her words of wisdom: Keep Christ in the center and Motto in Life: Laughter is the best medicine. In another place she wrote: “Life itself never ends, only the earthly phase of it” and “You have to die to live/to be alive.” By this we know she had a hope, beyond this life, there was an eternal home in Heaven waiting for her arrival. She said: On my headstone put: Child of God. What a legacy to be left for us to think about.
A Celebration of Angela's Life will be held on Friday, April 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Weyburn Free Methodist Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan Pastor Jody Pfeifer officiating. Interment will take place at Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, Saskatchewan
