Walter L. Talarski, 70, of Marlborough, beloved captain to his first mate Kristine (Nelson) Talarski, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 with his wife, brother and sister by his side. Walter was born on March 28, 1948 in Hartford and was a son of the late Walter and Constance (Bielonko) Talarski. Walter followed in his grandfathers and father’s footsteps and graduated from the American Academy McAllister Institute of Funeral Service Inc. in New York. He worked at Talarski Funeral Home, for many years. He also was a nursing home administrator for the family nursing homes which included Buckley Convalescent Home in Hartford and Liberty Hall in Colchester. His greatest passions were sailing and fishing. He had many adventures like sailing to the Bahamas and Tortola. His trips on “My Girl”, (his dream boat a Passport 40 sailboat) included sailing to his favorite spot in Block Island from home port at Fort Rachel Marina in Mystic, where he was known as the Mayor of South Dock. He loved his trips to the cabin in Moosehead Lake, Maine to spend time with family and friends and fish as much as possible.
Besides his wife Kristine, he leaves his three fur babies, Bonnie, Jack and Charlie. He also leaves his brother Edward Talarski and his wife Julie of Glastonbury and his sister Cynthia Horowitz and her husband David of West Hartford. He also leaves his niece Emily, nephews Daniel, Alan, Braden, Joseph and Michael along with his many, many cousins and friends. Walter is now reunited with his beloved Portuguese water dog, Sinbad.
At Kristine’s request, she would love for you to bring a fishing lure or any small item to the service and pin it to Walter’s forever memory blanket. Walter would prefer, in lieu of flowers that memorial donations in his name may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
Walter’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, September 14th, from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
