Virginia (Ginny) Bazzano, 90, widow of Salvatore A. Bazzano, of South Windsor, was welcomed into God’s care on Tuesday, March 26, 2024. Ginny was born in Manhattan, NY and was the daughter of the late Frances (Drago) Stannard.
Ginny was a remarkable, unique, and gracious woman. She lived a life full of grace and wisdom, with her family as the center of her universe. She loved all, family, friends and many more.
Ginny and her husband Sal raised their three boys in the early years on Preston St. in Hartford’s South End. In the 1970’s she moved to Vernon, CT and built their dream home on a mountainside overlooking Hartford’s skyline. She worked at the Vernon Board of Education for several years. Hand in hand, Ginny and Sal had shared their passion for adventure and travelled the world. As years passed Ginny and Sal downsized, spending their time in South Windsor, CT and Bradenton, FL. Ginny’s Florida residence has been a welcome stop for family and friends for the past 38 years, sharing thousands of smiles and building lasting memories. From South Windsor, Ginny and Sal moved to Atria in Rocky Hill, CT until Sal’s passing. Ginny then moved to Evergreen Crossing in South Windsor, CT where she found a new vitality in her step, enjoying exercise classes, book clubs and perhaps most of all, playing Rummikub. She was forging new and lasting friendships all along the way.
At the core was her family, Ginny was a consistent presence for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchild. The #1 fan at every event and of every achievement, she never missed an opportunity to support and encourage. She was so very proud of them all.
Ginny will be remembered for her kindness, caring, her eagerness to listen, and to always be and present her best. Her gift of unconditional support and love for others made her a constant in many people’s lives. She will be missed by many.
She is survived and will be dearly missed by her sons: Gary and his wife Susan of Westbrook, CT; Raymond and his wife Maria of Jamestown, RI; her daughter-in-law, Claire of Niantic; her wonderful eight Bazzano grandchildren: John (Madison), Stephen, Christopher, Danielle, Marissa, Michael, Christian, and Casey; and one precious great-granddaughter, Zoe Bazzano. Also mourning her passing are her brother-in-law Burt Sanzo and her extended family of nieces, nephew, and cousins. Virginia was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore Bazzano; her son, Stephen Bazzano; and her sister, Frances Sanzo.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Church of Incarnation Campus), 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield, CT.
