Vincenzo Carducci

Vincenzo Carducci, 93, of Newington, loving husband of the late Maria (Pace) Carducci, peacefully entered eternal life on Sunday, December 22, 2024, at Hartford Hospital. Born in Pratola Peligna, province of L’Aquila, Italy on November 8, 1931, a son of the late Marino and Felicia (DeSimone) Carducci, he had been a resident of Newington since 1973. Prior to retiring, Vincenzo was employed as a machinist for over 20 years by New England Centerless Grinding in West Hartford.

Immigrating to America in 1958, Vincenzo celebrated the anniversary of his arrival every year. Proud of his Italian heritage, he was a longtime member of the Italian Pratolana MB Society in Hartford. Vincenzo was an avid gardener who enjoyed canning his tomato sauce for family to enjoy. He also liked to make his own wine and home-made sausage. He was a talented duckpin bowler who participated in several area leagues and an all-around sports enthusiast, especially of the UConn men and women basketball teams. A devout catholic, he was a faithful communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Newington for over 50 years. Most of all, Vincenzo was a loyal and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his entire family.

Vincenzo is survived by his three daughters, Felicia Cirigliano of Newington, Anna Lahda and her husband John of Wethersfield, Giovanna Sullo and her husband Joseph of West Hartford: three adored grandchildren, John-Vincent Lahda of Wethersfield, Joseph Sullo, II of West Hartford, and Gabriella Sullo of Boston, MA. He also leaves two brothers-in-law, Gemmino Pizzoferrato of West Hartford, Giuseppe Pace and his wife Kathy of Conway, SC; two sisters-in-law, Delfina Carducci and Anna (Maria) Carducci both of Newington; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Along with his beloved wife and parents, Vincenzo was predeceased by a son-in-law, Steven Cirigliano of Newington; two brothers, Giovanni Carducci and Panfilo Carducci both of Newington; and a sister, Giuseppina Zavarella of Italy.

Funeral service will be Saturday (December 28th) with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 am at St. Mary’s Church of Annunciation Parish, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, (Section 26), Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church on Saturday morning. Vincenzo’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday (December 27th) from 4 – 6 pm at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield.
