Born on October 4, 1941 and raised in East Hartford, Tom was the youngest of three children born to the late LeRoy Bailey and Bernice (Drake) Bailey Johnsonbaugh. Tom was employed for many years at Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company, cooking and ordering food and supplies for the company’s employee cafeteria. He also worked for a brief time with a vending company, All Seasons Services. After retirement, Tom occasionally worked part-time at the Price Chopper Supermarket in Windsor.
Known by many as “Bailey”, he enjoyed all types of sports and was an avid Yankees, Patriots and Giants fan. He enjoyed attending classic car shows and was a lifelong Elvis fan.
In addition to his wife Marlene, Tom is survived by two sons, Fred Bailey and wife Maria of Ellington and Bill Bailey and wife Veronica of Ellington; one sister, Claire Lillis of Rockville; five granddaughters, Samantha, Amanda, Oliviana, Calista and Auralia; one great-grandson, Jason; one great-granddaughter, Makenzie and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Bailey. The family would like to thank the hospice team from Hartford HealthCare at Home for their kind and compassionate care.
Funeral services will be Saturday (January 11) at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
