Suzanne Margaret (Swanson) Tulisano, 66, left this world on Sunday, January 14, 2018 with her beloved husband Don by her side. Suzanne battled brain cancer and its cruel side effects of treatment; she faced her diagnosis with strength, bravery and hope. Suzanne was born in Torrington on November 7, 1951 and graduated from Berlin High School. Suzanne was employed as an Analyst at the Aetna for 38 years and joyfully retired early at the age of 58. She and Don met at the Aetna and it was love at first sight as they enjoyed 32 beautiful years together. Suzanne was always straight forward but good natured with a natural wisdom and the ability to see through nonsense. She was a great friend to many and generous with her time and resources. Don would always say “She has a way about her, don’t know what it is.” Suzanne loved to decorate for the change of seasons and holidays, with a set of dishes for every occasion. She greatly enjoyed putting out her dinner settings when entertaining and making sure everyone enjoyed their visit. Suzanne couldn’t be seen in public without her earrings, especially her elephant or seahorse sets with matching bracelet and necklace. She loved the trips she and Don took together, mostly to Atlantic City in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, but more than anything she loved the simple things in life, especially a winter day working on her puzzles in front of the TV with her cat and Donald nearby. She will always be remembered as the beautiful girl with the long brown hair in the blue dress. Suzanne leaves her friend, companion, confidant, lover and husband, Donald Tulisano of Berlin; stepdaughter, Krista Tulisano and husband Chris Lerner of New Britian and her brother, Johnathan Swanson (whom she shared a special bond with and loved very much) along with his family of Durham. She also leaves her mother, Renee (Goyette) Swanson of Masonic Home and many caring friends. She was predeceased by her father, Richard Swanson.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday (January 19) from 5-8 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Services for Suzanne will conclude at the end of the calling hours. For online expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.desopo.com.
