Sonia Rodriguez

Sonia Rodriguez, 59, of Wethersfield, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico on September 2, 1962, she was the daughter of the late Victor Lopez and Cleofe Rodriguez. Sonia worked as an account manager at Travelers for many years, she will always be remembered by her co-workers as an inspiration and mentor. Sonia loved plants, her home will filled with an abundance of beautiful plants and succulents. She nurtured and cared for them in a tender and loving way. Sonia also enjoyed collecting milk glass along with thrifting and antiquing which were all part of her love for decorating. Sonia enjoyed taking spontaneous day trips throughout the state, where she would explore and appreciate the beauty of Connecticut. In addition, Sonia was an extremely spiritual woman, a strong believer in her faith which guided her and gave her strength throughout her life. Most of all, Sonia enjoyed time spent with her family, she was a loving and devoted mother, sister, cousin and friend.

Sonia will be forever missed by her devoted daughter, Vanessa Avila-Lukas and her husband Mark Lukas of Wethersfield; three sisters, Miriam Broadhurst and her husband Peter of West Hartford, Irma Lopez and her husband Lee and Lucy Lopez and her husband Andres, all of Puerto Rico and nieces and nephews, Brandon and Camilo Broadhurst and Andres A. and Paola M. Aquino, as well as many extended family members and friends.

A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, December 14, 2021 from 4 to 7 p.m.at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A Prayer Service and Celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, December 15 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Everyone is requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
