Beloved mother, wife, sister, noni, GG and Zia , Santina (Genovese) Amenta, of Newington and formerly of West Hartford and Hartford, passed into the arms of our Lord on July 4, 2018. She was 95 years young and predeceased by her husband, Edward Amenta after 68 years of marriage. She was born on March 25, 1923 in Hartford, but grew up in Canicattini Bagni, Sicily with her parents, Lucia Mozzicato and Carmelo Genovese. She returned to America to become the devoted mother of four children and the matriarch of the family. She was employed over the years by Royal Typewriter, East Hartford Convalescent Home and Sears Roebuck and Co. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, but her greatest joy was the love of her family. Her cutlets and culinary creations will forever be missed and her impact on everything and everyone she touched can never be fully measured. Santina is survived by her three devoted daughters, Lucy Donahue and husband Stephen of East Hartford and their children Carrie and Mark, Mary Caputa of Newington and her children Joe and Lauren, and Susan Dederer and husband David of South Windsor and their children Alyssa, Michelle and Michael; her sister, Maria Lenares and husband Salvatore of West Hartford; her brother, Pasquale Genovese and wife Rosetta of Sicily; seven cherished great-grandchildren, Jude, Doug, Sloane, Oliver, Lydia, Dominic and Justin; numerous wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her son, Edward Amenta and her brother, Vincent Genovese and wife Lucy. Many thanks to the Visiting Nurse Association, nurses Kelly and Noreen from Hartford Healthcare Hospice and her loving caretakers, Jenn, Netti and Abena.
