Robert Albert Madsen, 88, of Hartford and formerly of Wethersfield, devoted husband of Susanne (Hahn) Madsen, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2013. He was born Nov. 21, 1924 in Hartford, the son of the late Albert Christian Madsen and Nettie (Plaza) Madsen. Robert graduated from Hall High School in 1942 and from the University of Connecticut in 1950. Robert was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during WWII. Prior to his retirement in 1987, he was employed as an Engineer at Hamilton Standard for 34 years. Robert was a past Grand Master of the Hospitality Lodge #128 A.F.&A.M. and was active in the leadership of Central Baptist Church in Hartford for decades. In addition to Susanne, his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son, David Madsen and his wife Wendy of Avon; three daughters, Linda Linton and her husband John of Columbia, MD, Sally Madsen of Falls Church, VA and Denver, CO, and Nancy Cummings and her husband Michael of Wilton, ME; five grandchildren Emily Madsen and her husband Larry Moberly, Ross Madsen, Peter Linton, Zachary Cummings, and Sarah Cummings; a great-granddaughter Willa Moberly; a brother-in-law, Karl Hahn of East Hartford; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at Central Baptist Church, 457 Main Street, Hartford. Burial in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield will be private. Calling hours are Sunday, February 10th, from 12- 3 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield.
