Bob (Bobby, Hawk, Daddy-O) D’Onofrio, 79 of Newington passed away unexpectedly yet peacefully on Friday, August 20, 2021 while recovering from a number of health issues. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, Bob was the son of the late Quido and Anna (Stubler) D’Onofrio. Bob’s biological father, Ernest G. Margharito served the United States Army where he was killed in action in France during World War II.
A devoted husband, Bob leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years, Rose (Maida); brother, Quido and wife Grace; two sons, Mark and Greg and their significant others. Bob was a proud grandfather to Amanda and Maddison and great-grandchildren Lia, Ira and Aviana. He is survived by his brother-in-law Tony and Carol Maida along with many nieces, nephews and relatives. Bob was a dear friend to many and will be missed by all who had the good fortune of getting to know him. Bob was predeceased by his in-laws Patsy and Eleanora Maida.
Bob lived his life fully without regrets and his frank sense of humor and enthusiasm for life was contagious. Bob was a lifelong lover and passionate collector of classic cars, firearms and knives as well as a proud member of the Rocky Hill Elks. During his retirement years, Bob found meaningful work at Forrest Machine Inc.
Bob loved his country, family and friends. He truly cherished the simple pleasures in life; a good cigar, chilled Kettle One, an Italian grinder or grilled ribeye. Most importantly and no matter what, time spent and experiences shared with family and friends was priority one.
Funeral services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Rocky Hill Elks #2308 (elks.org) or The National Kidney Foundation (kidney.org).
