Robert “Bob” Bonin, 68, beloved husband to Maryanne (Browne) Bonin, of Wethersfield, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, December 31, 2022. Bob was born in Hartford and was son to the late Joseph and Dorothy (Bublitz) Bonin.
Bob graduated from Wethersfield High School, class of 1973. After working for 20+ years at the Hartford Hospital, he attended Capital Community College and received his paramedic degree. He went on to work for Aetna Ambulance and Rockville Hospital as a paramedic. He was most proud of his achievement to work with CT-1, DMAT as an EMS Unit Leader, he was deployed to numerous disaster areas. Bob retired in 2021, due to health issues.
In addition to Mary Anne to mourn his passing, he leaves his beloved daughters; Dawn Bonin of Coventry and Lisa Bonin of Newington and his precious granddaughter, Aurora Bonin, also of Newington. He also leaves his brothers; Jack (Joan) Bonin of Marlborough, Tim (Pam) Bonin of Sturbridge, MA, his sister, Elizabeth Hence of South Windsor, his step children, Elizabeth Lucas and Sergeant Stephen Dowdy, U.S. Marine Corps, as well as several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his brother, Ret. Lt. Col. Donald J. Bonin, his sister, Joan M. Fries and his brother-in-law, Phillip L. Hence.
Please join the family to Celebrate his Life and share special memories, on Wednesday, January 11, from 4PM – 6PM at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. A private burial will take place in his family plot in Holy Cross Cemetery, Glastonbury.
