Richard Daniel Zak, 88 of Glastonbury, loving husband of the late Josephine (Sajdlowski) Zak, peacefully passed away, Monday, December 2, 2024. Richard was born September 27,1936 and raised in Hartford, one of eight children to the late John and Nora (Sobczyk) Zak. He attended Hartford schools, then went on to serve our country in the United States Military. After his tour of duty, he became an Iron Worker with the Iron Worker’s Local 15.
Richard and Josephine raised their son Dan in Hartford, moving to Wethersfield in 1990 once Dan was on his own. They resided there for many years, prior to moving to Glastonbury to be closer to their grandchildren. Most of all he was a devoted family man. It was all about family especially the grandchildren. He and Josephine would attend all their activities. In addition, Richard was a big horse racing fan, enjoying many trips to Saratoga.
Richard will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his cherished family; his son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Kristine Zak, three adored grandchildren, Dan, Adam, and Kaitlin Zak, all in Glastonbury. In addition to his wife and parents, Richard was pre-deceased by a grand-daughter, Anne Marie Zak, as well as his siblings, Stanley, Henry, Zigmund, John, Bertha, Helen, and Josephine.
