Peter S. Lucca, 70, of West Hartford, formerly of Rocky Hill, beloved husband of Joyce (Vieira) Lucca, passed at home on Monday (June 17, 2013) surrounded by his family. He was born on May 4, 1943 in Hartford and was the son of the late Frank and Rose (Santangelo) Lucca. Peter was a graduate of Bulkeley High School, class of 1962. He owned and operated the Diamond Restaurant in Glastonbury for twelve years, was a marshal for the State of CT for twenty years and a longtime member of Wethersfield UNICO. Peter possessed a love of life and living. He could always light up a room with his infectious laugh and silly one- liners. Peter loved many things in life including: his 1964 Cadillac convertible, cannolis, anything Italian, power walks, UCONN women’s basketball, spending time with his grandchildren and retiring to Cassandra Blvd, where he made many special friends. In addition to his beloved wife of 45 years, Joyce, Peter leaves behind his two devoted daughters: Anissa Aglieco and husband Giuseppe of Rocky Hill and Janeese Lucca and husband Hector Ruiz of Arlington, Virginia and his five cherished grandchildren: Melaina, Zachary and Mia Aglieco and Estee and Mateo Ruiz. Peter is also survived by his siblings: a brother, Frank Lucca and two sisters: Rosanne Tancredi, Serena Guerrette and husband Ron. Peter will be greatly missed by a host of family and special lifelong friends, who were there to support and encourage him throughout his illness. Peter, may your journeys bring you closer to the happiness and joy that you so generously bestowed upon us! A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (June 24) at 5 p.m. at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph, 140 Farmington Ave, Hartford. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield is handling arrangements. Parking for the service is available behind the cathedral on Asylum Avenue. To assist family and friends attending the Mass, there will be staff from the funeral home in front of the Cathedral handing out parking directions.
