On Thursday, September 12, 2024, Pauline E Ribera, 90, passed peacefully in Hobe Sound, Florida surrounded by her family. Pauline was born in Hartford on December 6, 1933. She was a devoted wife of 63 years to Salvatore J. Ribera, who predeceased her in 2019. They raised their family in West Hartford and retired in Florida.
She is survived by her three children, Cheryl Harris and son-in-law Jim Harris, Holly Lane, and Joseph Ribera and daughter-in-law Monica Ribera and five grandchildren, David Harris, Heather Garzero (husband Alex), Taylor Lane, Trevor Lane and Tyler Ribera. She is also survived by her sister, Nel D’Onofrio and niece, Kim Mack (husband Chuck Mack).
A devoted wife and nurturing mother, Pauline especially loved her role as “Nonnie” to her five grandchildren. She was a classy, elegant and fashionable woman with a demure personality who loved decorating and keeping a beautiful and immaculate home for her family.
Mom worked with several judges from the Superior and Supreme Courts of Connecticut for 18 years, retiring in 1989. She also cherished her childhood friendships, some having lasted 70+ years, beginning when she lived on Front Street in Hartford.
As her dementia progressed, her quiet demeanor and peacemaker attitude transformed into more of a spicy personality, making us smile and at times catching us off guard. We were blessed with an angel nurse, Charlene, who made Mom’s most difficult days easier by showering her with love, warmth and kindness through care, hugs and song.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 872 Farmington Avenue, West Hartford. Everyone is asked to meet directly at the church. Entombment will follow Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center, 1410 Gene Street, Winter Park, FL 32789 (online at adrccares.org). The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield has been entrusted with the arrangements. To share a memory of Pauline, please visit www.desopofuneralchapel.com
