

Paul P. Kolodziej, 93, of Wethersfield Ct. died peacefully January 11, 2011. He was the loving husband of the late Anna (Sawicki) Kolodziej. Paul was born in Glastonbury CT June 26, 1917 and was the son of the late Peter and Sophie Kolodziej. He and his parents moved back to Poland in 1923. During WWII he joined the Allied Forces in liberating Germany. He married and returned to CT in 1949 where he worked for the Atlantic Screw Company for ten years and then became a machinist at Pratt and Whitney for 30 years. He is a member of the Polish Army Veteran’s Association. He is survived by his daughter Christine (Kolodziej) Fishman and her husband Ted of Glastonbury Ct, his son Peter Kolodziej of Wethersfield Ct, and his daughter Lisa (Kolodziej) Wright and her husband John of Orlando Florida. He also has two grandsons, Benjamin and Andrew Fishman. Paul is also survived by three sisters, Bernice Olender, Elizabeth Sobanski and Sophie Labedzki. He was predeceased by two sisters; Eleonora Szmid and Helen Czernecki and a brother Walter Kolodziej. Paul built his home in Wethersfield and was an avid gardener and beekeeper. He was a kind, quiet man who loved being a “dziadziu”.
Funeral service will be Saturday (January 15) at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church, 55 Charter Oak Ave., Hartford at 10:30 am. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Friday (January 14) at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield.
