Pasquale C. Zavarella

Pasquale C. Zavarella, 80, of Newington, beloved husband for 54 years of Rita (Carducci) Zavarella, died Friday (June 27, 2008) at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Pratola Peligna, province of Aquila, Italy he was the son of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Fabrizio) Zavarella and lived in Newington since 1976. He retired in 1988 from the Metropolitan District Commission (MDC) after 36 years of service and was the former owner of the Manor Inn in Southington. He was a devoted member and past president of the Pratolana M. B. Society. Besides his wife he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Vincent and Lorrie Zavarella and Bruno and Debbie Zavarella all of Newington; his daughter and son-in-law, Anita and Michael Poglitsch of Newington; eight grandchildren; Kathrine Ann and her husband James Leary, Daniele, Alex, Maria and Vincent Zavarella, II, Shaun, Kalah and Michael Poglitsch, Jr., and one great grandchild, Jerica. He is also survived by his brother and sister Erminio and Lucia Zavarella both in Italy. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Imberia DiSimone. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to all of the nurses and staff members on the 8th floor at St. Francis Hospital. The funeral is Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, Newington. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
