Nicholas “Nick” William Tiberio, 41, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Hartford on January 23, 1983, Nick was the cherished son of Steve and Nancy (Ramus) Tiberio, who were his biggest fans and unwavering supporters through every twist and turn of his journey. He grew up in Wethersfield, graduating from Wethersfield High School in 2001 and from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2005.
While he spent most of his adult life in and around Hartford, Nick's journey took him to diverse places including New York City, Portland, ME, and Colorado. He was a talented restaurant manager, an ‘untrained’ chef with a knack for creating delicious meals. He was best known for his charm and infectious energy in his roles within the restaurant industry. Behind the bar, he forged friendships that spanned far and wide, connecting with patrons and colleagues alike.
Nick’s life was one big adventure; he loved to travel, visiting 18 countries and exploring the world. He had a special fondness for Spain and its culture. A voracious reader, he could finish a book in hours, and his creativity knew no bounds—whether he was designing clothes, painting furniture or canvases, playing his guitar or creating music, he embraced every artistic endeavor. His memorable presence was marked by his ever-changing hair-most memorable, of course, was his head of colorful dreads, always draped with a bandana, and an enviable sneaker and tee shirt collection.
Though Nick faced significant struggles with alcoholism and mental health, he ultimately found peace. In a bittersweet irony, it was these very challenges that opened the door to his final resting place of tranquility—a peace of mind, body, and soul that he so deeply sought.
In addition to his parents, Nick will be forever loved and missed by his beloved siblings, older sister, Lauren Puglisi and husband Steve and younger brother, Brett Tiberio and wife Sarah. Nick was a devoted uncle to his three nieces and two nephews—Anabelle, Violet, Samuel, June, and Remy—each of whom held a special place in his heart. His bond with his goddaughter, Anabelle, was particularly special, as he instilled in her the values of boldness, bravery, and of course, a flair for great footwear. Nick also left behind his beloved Uncle and Aunt, Bill and Margaret Ramus and Lee Miller, as well as, several cousins. Throughout his life, Nick built a remarkable community of friends who stood by him during his toughest moments. To Emily, a very special person in his life over the past year, Ryan (Cheddar), Timmy, Justin, and countless others, your support and companionship brought light to his days. You shared laughter, countless days together through good times and bad, embodying the spirit of friendship that Nick cherished deeply.
Nick's family and friends loved him dearly and will carry his memory in their hearts every day. While his time with us was far too short, his spirit of adventure, generosity, and profound love for those around him will never be forgotten. He was always there to listen to anyone in need, with words of wisdom and a shoulder to lean on.
Burial and a celebration of Nick’s life will be private.
