Nancy (Di Mattia) Cavallaro, 73, of Wethersfield, lovingly called “Titina”, beloved wife for 50 years of Elio Cavallaro, died peacefully on Monday (December 31, 2012) at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford. Born on November 10, 1939 in Pratola Peligna, L’Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Maria (Federica) Di Mattia. As a child her family moved to Cerchio, L’Aquila, Abruzzo, Italy where her family owned and operated a mill and where she spent most of her childhood. She immigrated to the United States in 1961, and she stayed with her sister Giuseppina and brother-in-law, Americo Cianfaglione in Yonkers, NY. In 1962, Nancy moved to Hartford, where she stayed with her uncle, Guerino and aunt, Emilia Vallera and her cousins. She married Elio Cavallaro in 1963 and they settled in Wethersfield. She was employed by Connecticut Spring and Combustion Engineering for many years. Nancy and Elio owned Connoisseur Package Store for over 23 years. Nancy was an active member and correspondence secretary with the Pratolana Mutual Benefit Society for many years and was in charge of their Birthday Calendar. She was involved in many of their social events-the banquets, Christmas parties and Madonna Feasts. She was also a member of the Mount Carmel and Santa Cristina Society and she was part of the Italica Bowling League. In addition to her loving husband Elio, she is survived by her devoted niece, who was like a daughter to her, Monica Pace and her husband Renato and their daughter, Kassandra; her sister, Giussepina Cianfaglione and her husband Americo and family of Malibu, CA; brothers, Edoardo Di Mattia and his wife Rosa and family, Quintino Di Mattia and his wife Maria Cristina and family, Gianni Di Mattia and his wife Augusta and family, all of Cerchio, L’Aquila, Italy, Ettore Di Mattia and his wife Alessandra and family and her sister-in-law, Giomar Di Mattia and family, all of Caracas, Venezuela; her brother-in-law, Anthony Cavallaro and his wife Debbie of Enfield; sister-in-law, Josephine Nolin and her husband Bill and family of Broad Brook; sister-in-law, Carmela Callahan and family of Palm Bay, FL; nieces, Angela, Lydia, Linda, Laura, Victoria, Elizabeth, Theresa, Patricia, Diane, Marina, Alina, Maria Rita, Erika, Estrella, Barbara, Michella and their families, as well as her nephews, Marco, Bruno, Vincenzo, Gianluca, Germano, Antonello, Federico, Ronald, John, Jimmy, Robert, Richard and their families; her cousins, Romeo, Ada, Alberto, Adelchi, Guido, Cesidio, Federico, Olvea, Lena, Irma, Aldo and Vittorio and their families, as well as many dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Loreto Di Mattia; her cousin, Giulio Vallera and her brother-in-law, Edwin Callahan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday (January 7) at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church.
