Michael “Mike” S. Polo, 79, of Rocky Hill, entered into God’s care on Friday, November 29, 2024 after a brief illness. Mike was born August 4, 1945 and raised in Hartford. He was the son of the late Sebastian and Mary (DeAngelis) Polo. He worked at Hartford Hospital for many years in Environmental Services until his retirement. He was a longtime volunteer firefighter for the Town of Vernon at Company #1 and was also a member of the Sons and Daughters of Italy. He was an avid UConn and NY Yankees fan.
A loving father and grandfather, Mike will be dearly missed by his son, Thomas Polo and wife Kara of Coventry and his two adored granddaughters who brought him so much joy, Ashla and Abby Polo. He will also be forever loved and remembered by his brother, Paul Polo and wife Nami of Westbrook, as well as his huge extended family of nephews, nieces and cousins. The family would like to give special thanks to his caregiver Alexandra for everything she has done for him over the past few years and to the Staff of Bliss 7E and the Palliative Care Team at Hartford Hospital.
Family and friends may call on Friday, December 6 from 3-5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Celebration of Life service will conclude the calling hours at 5 p.m. with Father Frederick Aniello officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
