Marlene E. (Baldassario) Foss, 86, of West Hartford, beloved wife for 64 years of the late Robert K. Foss, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024. Born in Hartford on January 2, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Isabella (Erardi) Baldassario. Marlene graduated from Weaver High School, class of 1956 and married Bob that summer on August 4. She retired from the American School for the Deaf after more than 20 years of dedicated service. Marlene enjoyed reading, gardening, watching her favorite soap operas, going to the movies and going on vacation, especially to Cape Cod, and she was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. Marlene was a great cook and especially loved hosting dinners on the holidays. More than anything, she cherished spending time with her family.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Marlene will be forever missed by her two daughters, Sharon Foss and Wanda Foss and wife Evelyn Laureano, all of West Hartford; her adored grandson, Chandler Foss and her cherished great-grandson, Chandler Foss, Jr. In addition, she is survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was sadly predeceased by her beloved son, Kirk E. Foss; two brothers, Charles and Michael Baldassario; her sister, Catherine Poggie; sister-in-law, Leona Baldassario and brother-in-law, John Poggie.
Calling hours will be Monday, October 28 from 10-11:30 a.m. concluding with a Prayer Service at 11:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlene’s memory may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Donation Processing Center, P.O.
