Maria (D’Aloisio) Speranza, 89, of Wethersfield and formerly of Hartford, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, August 27, 2022. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Arquilino Speranza.
Maria was born on June 15, 1933, in Pianella, Italy. She was the daughter and one of seven children born to the late Luigi and Grazia (Pierdomenica) D’Aloisio. She immigrated to the United States from Italy in 1952, and resided in Hartford with her husband, Arquilino. Maria worked for the City of Hartford, Board of Education. She was a hard worker and a well-respected individual. She was also a very giving person, touching the hearts of everyone she encountered. Maria found enjoyment in giving to others and was selfless and loving. A devout Catholic, her strong faith and family were the center of her life. She instilled strong family values and traditions, which were very important to her. Maria’s passion was baking homemade goods and cooking for her family and friends. Her homemade cakes and cookies were always the talk of the town. Her safe haven was her backyard tending to her flourishing garden and beautiful flowers. Most of all, she lived for her children and granddaughter, they were her pride and joy.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered as a loving, caring mother by her four children, Arthur (Elaine) Speranza, Maria C. Speranza, Diana Speranza (Stefan Graca) and Stephen Speranza (Maribeth, fiancée); her beloved granddaughter, Ashley (Ahmed) Rashed, and great-grandchildren, Sophia and Samir Rashed. She is also survived by her sister, Mirella (Gino) Aceto and brother, Alberto (Amelia) D’Aloisio, all of Italy, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by two sisters, Lucia DiGirolamo and Antoinetta Speranza and two brothers, Vincenzo and Giulio D’Aloisio. Lastly, she will always be grateful for being a Nonna to her two four-legged grandsons, “Corky” and “Doni”.
The family wishes to thank the professional staff of Prime Healthcare of Vernon for their dedication and commitment toward the compassionate and attentive care given to Maria while in their care. A special heartfelt thanks to Anna Adamczk, who assisted with Maria’s care for three years.
