Maria E. Monaco

Maria E. (Masciulli) Monaco, 86, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Donato R. Monaco died peacefully Monday, (May 29, 2006) at St. Francis Hospital in the presence of her loving family. She was born in Palmoli, Province of Chieti, Italy, and lived in the Hartford area for 48 years. She was a devoted and adored mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to a daughter and son-in-law, Livia and Frederick Caserta of Newington; three sons and daughters-in-law, Fernando ""Frank"" and Emily Monaco of Wethersfield with whom she resided, Ezio and Anna Monaco of Glastonbury and Carlo ""Dino"" and Elizabeth Monaco of Rocky Hill; her eight grandchildren: Stephani Sanzo and her husband Rocco, Tina St. Pierre and her husband Mark, Kenneth Caserta and his wife Heather, Donato Monaco and his wife Juliet, Allison Monaco and her fiance Billy Michaels, Tim Monaco, Mallory Monaco and Joseph Donato ""JD"" Monaco; and seven great-grandchildren: Gabriella, Jenna, Kyle, William, Carly, Emilia and Molly. She leaves behind her brother, Nino Masciulli of Italy, a niece, Teresa D'Aloisio of Newington and many nieces and nephews in Italy. She was predeceased by her sister, Elda Bolognese of Italy. She was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church for 48 years. Maria's family would like to express their most sincere appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Francis Hospital especially the compassion and sensitivity displayed by the caregivers on the floors of 7-1 and 8-1, Palliative Care and Hospice. Funeral services will leave Thursday, June 1st at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Book Blvd, Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church, Hartford. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be TODAY from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
