Lucia “Lucy” (Buccheri) Toffoli of Wethersfield, formerly of Hartford, beloved wife of 46 years to the late Joseph G. Toffoli passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024. Born July 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Domenica (Gionfriddo) Buccheri. She is survived by her daughter Dorene Dembek and husband Ted of Paso Robles, Ca., her daughter Dr. Caroline A. Toffoli and wife Carol of Magnolia, DE, her son James J.J. Toffoli of Hartford and granddaughter Marissa L. Dembek of Long Beach, CA. She is also survived by several cousins here in the United States and in Italy. She was predeceased by her sister Maria Buccheri. She was a member of the Young Italians Society of Canicattini Bagni. She worked for many years in the insurance industry while raising her young family. Passionate about working with young children, she spent over 20 years as a paraprofessional at Naylor School in Hartford. She loved her colleagues and shared many fun experiences in the duckpin bowling league, dressed in costumes for Halloween and participated in events as a “Red Hatter” These brought her great satisfaction and a wealth of funny stories she would share with the family. She was a loving mother who cherished time with her family here and in Italy. She retired to Wethersfield and enjoyed travel and preparing special treats for the holidays. The family wishes to thank the staff at The Atrium of Rocky Hill for their care and compassion. Lucy’s family will receive relatives and friends at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, Friday, January 3, 2025 from 9:45 – 10:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am, in Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park (Section 25), 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
