Joseph “Joe” A. Urso, 98, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 60 years of Maria (Ossino) Urso, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, March 6, 2024. Born on May 3, 1925 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Josephine (DePaolo) Urso and grew up in Hartford. Joe was a proud WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He married the love of his life, Maria, on June 15, 1963 in Italy and they came back to the U.S. to start their life together, settling in Wethersfield in 1967 to raise their family. Joe worked for U.S. Post Office, retiring as a manager after 25 years of dedicated service. He enjoyed being outside in his yard, whether he was trimming trees, mowing or tending to his extensive gardens. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family and was happiest when they were all together.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Joe will be forever missed by his devoted wife Maria; his son, Salvatore Urso and wife Kelley of Wethersfield and his six adored grandchildren, Katia, Alexandre and Madilena Vieira and Angela, Joseph and Jeffrey Urso. He is also survived by his brother, Thomas Urso of Newington, as well as many extended family members. In addition to his parents, Joseph was sadly predeceased by his beloved daughter, Lillian Urso-Vieira.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 12 from 9-11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church of Christ the King Parish, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield.
