Joseph J. Todaro, Jr., 86, of Wethersfield, husband of Santa (Sinisgalli) Todaro, died Friday, (February 22, 2013), at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Hartford, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Palma (Attardo) Todaro and lived in Wethersfield most of his life. He was employed as a bricklayer and mason for more than 35 years. Joe was a proud U.S. veteran having served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 86th Division Blackhawks. He was a member of the VFW in Wethersfield as well as a man of many talents which included his musical accomplishments, woodworking projects, gardening, and most of all he truly enjoyed being with his family. Besides his beloved wife of 60 years, Santa; he is survived by three children, Rocco Todaro and his wife Kerri of Old Lyme, Joseph J. Todaro, III and his wife Denise of Rocky Hill, and Palma Cannata of Portland; eight grandchildren, Paul Todaro and his wife Jennifer, Amy Ruzzo and her husband Max, Michele Mahoney and her husband Patrick, Mark Todaro, Robert Todaro and his wife Brityn, Jack Todaro and his wife Shannon, Christa Todaro, and Joseph Cannata. Joe also leaves many dear friends including his life long friend Anthony ""Ontick"" Olander; as well as his loving companion, his dog Peanut. Joe was predeceased by a son-in-law, Joseph Cannata as well as three brothers, Philip, Salvatore and Anthony, and three sisters Virginia Denson, Mary Nogas and Carmela Aukstolis.
The funeral will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013 from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:45 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield with military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
