Joseph D. Carbone, 64, of Cromwell, Connecticut passed away peacefully on Monday March 20, 2017. Joe was the first born son of Mario J. and Virginia (nee: Diamond) Carbone of Newington and Niantic Connecticut. Joe leaves behind two brothers and a sister: Peter A. Carbone of Cromwell, CT; sister Marianne and her husband, Michael Dery of Scarborough, Maine. John and wife Kristin Carbone of Cave Creek, AZ along with four nephews: Nikolas, Alex, River and Benjamin. Along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, Joe also leaves behind beloved godson, Timothy Schneider and his dad, Robert. Joe graduated Quinnipiac College in 1976, and went on to obtain his masters in psychology at CCSU. Joe was employed 30+ years for State of CT as a health care worker in various group homes assisting disabled persons. Joe was an active participant in the First Church of Christ Congregational in Wethersfield, CT and instrumental in their Singles Ministries. Joe made many life-long friends through this spiritual connection. Joe's interests included baking (he was known for his cheesecake). An avid Star Trek fan, as well as a bit of a Moody Blue's groupie - seeking out their concerts whenever they were in the area with his dear friend, Kathy. There will be no calling hours, but there will be a memorial service to celebrate Joe's life later in the Spring. Family and friends wishing to attend, kindly sign the guest book and leave your contact information and the family will reach out with details once announced. Joe's brothers and sister would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to stellar medical staff at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. In particularly the CICU nurses. Joe was born as St. Francis Hospital in 1952, and mercifully died at St. Francis. We are grateful to the staff for helping Joe to complete his circle of life in such a loving, capable facility. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: the Special Olympics of Connecticut - as Joe's career was devoted to children and adults with intellectual and physical disabilities from all across the state. 2666 State Street, Suite 1 Hamden, CT 06517 http://www.soct.org/ways-give/ - For online expressions of sympathy to the family, please visit www.desopo.com
