John Edward Rust Jr, 80, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Patricia (Carone) Rust, passed away peacefully on August 6th, 2019 surrounded by his family. John was born on June 16th 1939 in Hartford and was the son of the late John “Jack” Rust, Sr. and Ann Rust of Old Wethersfield. He was proceeded in death by his talented siblings, Stephen Rust and Kathleen Rust.
John was a 1957 graduate of Wethersfield High School where he possessed a natural gift for the arts. John achieved the status of Eagle Scout as a young man. Upon graduation he attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NYC. His artistic skills found their way into his career as a builder of homes. John found joy spending time at the family summer home in Charlestown R.I. where he had a passion for salt water fishing and golf. John’s love for the game of golf began in his youth as a caddy at Wethersfield Country Club. Later in life he would spend winters in Florida walking and enjoying the Disney Parks. John had a great love of music, particularly jazz. In addition to Patricia Ann, his wife of 59 years, he leaves his children Robert Rust and his wife Meredith of Brooklyn, N.Y., Sharon Rust and her husband Mathew Bottone of Tiverton, RI,
Cristie Rust-Kitnick and her husband Glenn of Lafayette, Colorado. He will be missed by his sister in law Pamela Carone and his niece Lorrie Nadeau of Ellington, CT. In addition he will miss his beloved and clever grandchildren Sabine Bottone, Sebastian Bottone, Simon Kitnick and Milo Kitnick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 9th at 11am Sacred Heart Church
(also known as Christ the King Parish on 56 Hartford Avenue, Wethersfield. Burial will follow at
Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill.
