John F. DeLucco, 85, of Hartford, loving and devoted husband of Vincenza (Montineri) DeLucco for 57 years, died suddenly at home, Friday (July 25, 2008). He was born March 26, 1923 in Hartford and was the son of the late Dominick DeLucco, who was the first Italian American to be elected Mayor of the City of Hartford and Frances (DiBella) DeLucco. A life long resident of Hartford, he was a World War II, US Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Lycoming in the Pacific. As a young man he worked at his father's famous, DeLucco's Restaurant formerly on Walnut Street, Hartford. He was politically active serving the City of Hartford as GOP chairman. He owned and operated DeLucco Associates and was a Licensed Real Estate Appraiser & Broker for over 35 years. He was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Lawrence O'Toole Church. John was a Life Member of UNICO National, Newington Chapter and a member of the Italian-American War Veterans, Monaco-Carlino Strano Post #1, Hartford. He was also a Justice of the Peace and a Notary Public for over 40 years. He was awarded by the International Society of Real Estate Appraisers and recognized with designations of Senior Residential Appraiser and Senior Real Property Appraiser and attained the distinction of 'Life Member' in the Appraisal Institute. His loving, caring and generous spirit will never be forgotten by his whole family and many friends. Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, John DeLucco and his wife, Kathleen of South Burlington, VT, Dominic DeLucco and his wife, Maureen of East Hartford, Anthony John DeLucco and Susan Hanley of Middlebury, Deborah D. Breen of Fairfield and Angela DelCiampo and her husband, Mark of Cromwell; grandchildren, Jessica L. Breen, Ryan P. Breen and his wife, Amy, Ashley DeLucco, Tyler John DeLucco, Christina DeLucco, Dominic DeLucco, Jr., Christopher DeLucco, Anthony John DeLucco, Jr., Kristen Hanley, Marcus John DelCiampo and Jaye DelCiampo; two sisters, Mary and Frances DeLucco, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Anne DeLucco, Dorothy and Joseph Montineri and Lorraine and Salvatore Montineri as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Francis and Joseph DeLucco. Funeral service will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O'Toole, Hartford.
