
John Nicholas Colavecchio, 82, of Hartford passed away on Monday, (December 4, 2006) surrounded by loving family. He was born June 23, 1924 in Hartford, the son of the late Nicola and Carmella Flamio Colavecchio. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a member of the 339th Mustang Fighter Group of the US Army Air Force. John was a self employed electronics sales representative. He enjoyed music, most of all jazz and opera, but his greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his sister Rose Zito of Hartford, sisters-in-law Olga Colavecchio of Manchester and Furita Colavecchio of Greenwich, and his nieces and nephews: Gail Smith and husband Jay of Manchester, Janet Krom and husband Robert of Plantsville, Catherine Foster and husband Richard of New York, NY, Peter Colavecchio and wife Catherine of Florida, and Michael Colavecchio and wife Linda of Wilton. He also leaves behind his grand nieces and nephews Kristie, twins Alissa and Jennifer who he considered his grandchildren, Mathieu, Anne, Thomas, Alexandra and Michael. Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers Jean Colavecchio and Vincent Colavecchio. Funeral services will leave Thursday, December 7, at 9 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Lawrence O'Toole Church, Hartford. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
