James "Jimmy" T. Adamidis

James ‘Jimmy’ Theodore Adamidis, 90, beloved husband to Loula (Diminakis) Adamidis, of Wethersfield, died peacefully at home on February 16, 2024, surrounded by his family. Jimmy was born to the late Theodore and Victoria Adamidis on September 10, 1933 in Kontopouli, Lemnos, Greece. In 1968, at age 35, Jimmy decided to leave Greece and immigrated to the United States along with his wife, Loula, and his two young children, Theodore and Nicholas.

He will always be remembered by his loving wife, Loula, and his two sons, Theodore and his wife Linda Adamidis of Rocky Hill along with Nicholas and his wife Michele of Wethersfield. Jimmy was a grandfather to four grandchildren, Stephanie, Dimitri, James and John. He is also survived by his two sisters; Ioulia of Greece and Dina of Australia and many nieces and nephews and extended family.

Jimmy wanted to provide opportunity and a better life for his family. Life on the small island of Lemnos was very difficult and challenging after WWII. Jimmy developed a very strong work ethic where he started out working at Colt Firearm Manufacturing for his first initial years, but then realized he wanted to be his own boss and businessman and learned the pizza and restaurant industry. He acquired the West Hartford Pizza Palace and changed it into his family business of Jimmies Pizza, where he continued it for 33 years, until his retirement. He took great pride and joy in his business, where he always had a smile for all his customers.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends from his native Greece, sharing memories. He also enjoyed visiting Greece with his wife, Loula, most summers for almost 40 years.

His passing has left a deep void for many who knew him.

A time of visitation will be held Thursday, February 22, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 433 Fairfield Ave., Hartford followed by his funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Memorial donations may also be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in his memory.
