Helene Melba McGuire

Helene Melba (Leonard) McGuire, R.N., 90, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Bristol, beloved wife of the late Thomas B. McGuire, Sr., died Sunday, March 1, 2015 at Gladeview Health Care Center Old Saybrook. Born in East Hardwick, VT, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Marion (Hutchins) Leonard. Helene was a graduate of the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1945 and retired from Bristol Hospital as an R.N. She was an avid reader and caregiver. A loving mother and grandmother, Helene will be dearly missed. She is survived by her two daughters, Mary Meotti and husband Jeffrey of Old Saybrook and Colleen McGuire and husband Garry Welch of West Hartford and her four adored grandchildren, Elizabeth, Mark and Theresa Meotti and Ryan Welch. She is also survived by her brother, Reginald Leonard of Enfield and her sister, Janet Allen of Middletown. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two beloved sons, Thomas B. McGuire, Jr. and Leonard M. McGuire, her sister, Muriel St. Pierre and brother, Howard Leonard. The funeral will begin on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Burial will be in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends TODAY, March 3rd,
