Gregorio Robles, Jr., 46, of Manchester, beloved husband for 26 years of Michelle A. (Rivera) Robles and adoring father to their daughter, Arielle V. Robles, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Born in Hartford on August 20, 1977, he was the loving son of Gregorio Robles, Sr. and Maria Ortiz. Gregorio was a graduate of Hartford Public High School and earned his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Manchester Community College. He served proudly in the U.S. Army, earning the rank of Sergeant at the time of his discharge. Gregorio worked for many years for the State of CT Department of Corrections, retiring as Deputy Warden for the New Haven Correctional Center after 20 years of dedicated service.
Gregorio enjoyed hiking, biking, traveling and was a lifelong fan of baseball, especially the Boston Red Sox. His goal was to attend games at every major league stadium in the country and he had visited almost all 30 of them.
More than anything, Gregorio was a devoted family man. In addition to his wife, daughter and parents, he will be forever loved and missed by his sister, Cristina M. Robles; his mother-in-law, Lillie J. Rivera; sisters-in-law, Candace M. Sundue and Jessica K. Rivera, as well many adored nieces and nephews who he loved like his own children. The Ortiz and Robles families will cherish the memories they shared with Gregorio. He is also survived by his DOC family and many dear friends. He was predeceased by his father-in-law, Miguel A. Rivera.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, January 16 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial with military honors will follow at 1 p.m. at the State Veterans’ Cemetery, Middletown. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
