Gayle Morgan Baldwin, 93, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of Howard Griswold Baldwin passed away March 30, 2021. Gayle was born on November 14, 1927 in Windsor, one of four children of the late Edith and Ralph Morgan. She is survived by her two children Charles Baldwin and his spouse Paula Baldwin, of Waitsfield, VT, and Jayne Lumley and her spouse Ron Lumley, of Sarasota, FL, as well as four loving grandchildren Matthew Baldwin with his fiancé Stacie Marre, Zachary Baldwin, Lauren Lumley, and Sarah Lumley.
Growing up in Windsor, Gayle loved horseback riding, especially on Morgan horses. She was a graduate of Bates College in Maine. Gayle married Howard on July 25, 1956 and they celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary last year.
Gayle cherished summers on Cape Cod, where she enjoyed fishing, clamming, and berry picking. She made the best jelly and was known for her pies, especially blueberry. Gayle enjoyed traveling cross country with Howard in their VW Camper, visiting all 48 contiguous states.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ, Wethersfield, where she taught Sunday school for a time. In addition, she was a member of the Historical Society of Early American Decoration (HSEAD) and loved theorem and stencil painting.
Gayle will be remembered for her positive attitude and larger than life smile when greeting people.
Funeral services will be private and are entrusted to the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Griswoldville Chapel, c/o Rick Troutman 70 Griswold Rd, Wethersfield CT 06109.
